About Jodie Anne Bailey
Jodie is a British soprano, currently based in London. At present, Jodie has just completed a PGDip in Vocal & Opera under the tutelage of Eiddwen Harrhy at the Royal Northern College of Music. Previous to this, Jodie completed her master's at the RNCM and is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (Bachelor of Music). During her time at RCS she was a Karen Cargill Associate Artist, a select group of singers chosen to receive one-to-one tuition from Karen over a year-long programme. Jodie is an alumnus of the Glyndebourne Academy, led by Mary King, and The Hammond, Chester where she trained as an actor.
On the operatic stage, Jodie most recently sang the role of Violetta (La Traviata) with the Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra and in March/April 2023 performed the role of Maria Bertram in Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park at the RNCM. A keen supporter of new music, Jodie took on the role of Dr Moniz in in Stephen Browns ‘Brainland: A New Opera’ filming excerpts at the old operating theatre in London. She also originated the the role of Nancy in the development of a new semi-staged song cycle for three classical voices, Left Behind: Women of the War. Continuing her interest in new opera she became vocal consultant to the composer, Filip Holacky for his new opera ‘Echo’. She will sing the title role in Brno, Czech Republic during its workshop stages.
In excerpts, Jodie has sung the roles of Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Antonia (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Cendrillon (Cendrillon), Mimi (La Boheme), Clorinda (La Cenerentola), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Pamina (The Magic Flute), Fiordiligi (Cosi Fan Tutte) and Contessa (The Marriage of Figaro).
As a keen concert soloist, Jodie has performed Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s The Creation, Pergolesi’s Stabat Matar and Mozart’s Coronation Mass. She is a member of the RNCM Songsters, a pool of the most accomplished performers of song repertoire and in December performed Sir Stephen Hough’s Other Love Songs with Sir Stephen himself at the piano. In June 2023 Jodie was awarded 2nd prize for her performance in the inaugural Joyce & Michael Kennedy Strauss Prize at the RNCM.
She looks forward to her performance with The Yorke Trust in Norfolk where she will sing Strauss Four Last Songs and her performance with the RNCM songsters ‘Welcome to the Cabaret’ in February.
Jodie is a recipient of the RNCM Scholarship and her studies have been generously supported by The Wavendon Foundation.
